Something extraordinary has just appeared in Scotland: an artificial island with a wooden and stone structure older than Stonehenge

Archaeologists in Scotland uncovered a Neolithic crannog at Loch Bhorgastail after low water exposed the site.

The artificial island dates to about 3800–3300 BCE, making it older than Stonehenge and earlier than known Scottish crannogs.

Built with wood and stone, then expanded and linked by a submerged stone causeway, it likely served communal use for generations.

Pottery and other remains suggest the site was maintained and reused over centuries by Neolithic communities.
