OpenAI surpasses 1 billion users; adopted by 2 million companies

OpenAI said its AI products, including ChatGPT, have surpassed 1 billion active users, while enterprise adoption has grown to more than 2 million companies.

The company said users tend to engage more over time and use a wider range of features, with internal use of ChatGPT Work and Codex also expanding.

OpenAI also cut API prices for GPT-5.6 variants and said software optimizations lowered production serving costs.

The numbers point to rapid consumer and enterprise adoption, while lower prices and better efficiency could broaden access and intensify competition.
