YouTube to automatically detect AI-generated videos and label them, even without creator reporting

YouTube will automatically detect and label highly realistic AI-generated videos, even when creators do not disclose them.

The rollout is planned to begin gradually in May 2026.

The move is meant to reduce viewer confusion and catch missed disclosures.

The system will work alongside tools and standards such as YouTube Studio, Veo, Dream Screen, and C2PA.
