World’s largest offshore wind farm installs first monopile to power 3.3 million UK homes

Cadeler has installed the first fully commissioned XXL monopile foundation at Ørsted’s Hornsea 3 project in the North Sea.

Hornsea 3 will use 197 monopiles and is on track to become the world’s largest offshore wind farm when it starts operating in 2027.

The UK project is expected to add 2.9 GW of clean power, enough to supply millions of homes.

It also supports jobs and cuts dependence on fossil fuels as offshore wind buildout accelerates.
