If Your Job Involves Using Your Brain, You May Be in Big Trouble, Tufts Report Finds

Tufts researchers released what they claim is a first-of-its-kind data-driven framework, the American AI Jobs Risk Index, to map which occupations are vulnerable to AI.

The index estimates about 9.3 million U.S. jobs could be displaced in the next two to five years.

Some 4.9 million workers were identified as spread across 33 "tipping point" occupations at the highest risk of AI displacement.

Combined household incomes potentially at risk are estimated between $200 billion and $1.5 trillion.

The index assigns exposure scores to just shy of 800 occupations; highest-risk roles include web and digital interface designers, web developers, database architects, computer programmers, data scientists, and financial risk specialists, while lower-exposure jobs include roofers, miners, machine operators, meat packers, welders, stonemasons, plasterers, and the least exposed include surgical assistants, massage therapists, and fast-food counter workers.
