The US just banned Chinese humanoid robots and power inverters over security fears

The FCC approved immediate restrictions on new imports of certain advanced connected robots and power inverters that have not been authorized for U.S. sale.

Regulators said the move is meant to reduce supply-chain, surveillance, remote-access, and critical-infrastructure cybersecurity risks, especially from Chinese-linked manufacturers.

Existing approved products may keep operating and receiving updates through January 1, 2029, and some non-Chinese suppliers could seek waivers.

The decision could tighten U.S. access to robotics and grid equipment while pushing efforts to reshore key AI and energy infrastructure manufacturing.
