Turkey unveils 42,000-pound-thrust jet engine that delivers almost F-35-like power

Turkey unveiled the Güçhan low-bypass after-burning turbofan at SAHA 2026 in Istanbul.

The engine is said to generate about 42,000 pounds of thrust and is already in prototype testing.

Officials say it could power future KAAN variants and other military aircraft.

If successful, it would cut reliance on foreign suppliers and strengthen Turkey’s domestic defense industry.
