Amid Spiking Insurance Claims, Pennsylvania Invests In Wildlife Crossings

Pennsylvania has launched its first wildlife connectivity work group to plan future wildlife crossings.

Led by PennDOT and DCNR, the 11-agency group will develop solutions to improve road safety and habitat connectivity.

The state also secured an $840,000 federal grant to create a strategic plan after a rise in deer crashes and insurance claims.

The effort is aimed at reducing collisions, injuries, fatalities, and claims while protecting public lands and ecosystems.

It is expected to shape future transportation planning and conservation investments across state agencies.
