Check Point says election-themed domain registrations are rising ahead of the 2026 U.S. midterms, signaling a growing phishing and disinformation threat.

Attackers are cloning major media brands like Reuters and Fox News to host fake news pages that can mislead voters and spread false narratives.

Researchers also found thousands of leaked ActBlue and WinRed credentials, raising the risk of account takeover and donor fraud.

Lawmakers, including Sen. Mark R. Warner, warned that reduced federal election-security resources could make these threats harder to stop.
