China prepares its first major chip victory: it is already mass-producing its own UVP lithography machines, according to The Information

A Chinese state-backed company has reportedly begun mass production of immersion UVP lithography tools for semiconductors.

SMIC, Hua Hong Semiconductor, and CXMT are among the early customers, with only a few units planned this year and more expected in 2027.

The company has not been officially confirmed, but it is likely tied to Shanghai Yuliangsheng Technology.

The news has already moved shares of Western chip-equipment makers such as ASML and Applied Materials.

The advance could reduce China’s reliance on key lithography imports and intensify pressure on global suppliers in a strategic market.
