US authorities say Google engineer Spagnuolo used confidential search-related data to place Polymarket bets on 2025 search trends.

The bets reportedly earned about $1.2 million before the account was flagged and investigated by the FBI and CFTC.

Google said the employee was put on leave and that it is cooperating with law enforcement.
