AMD’s New CPPC HighestFreq Ends OS Frequency Guesswork, Letting Windows and Linux See True Ryzen Boost Clocks

AMD is adding CPPC HighestFreq support so firmware can report the true max boost clock of Ryzen cores to the OS.

This replaces estimated frequency calculations with a direct value, giving schedulers a more accurate view of per-core performance.

The change is meant to help Windows and Linux choose the best cores for demanding tasks more reliably.

If widely adopted on future Ryzen chips, it could improve scheduling accuracy, responsiveness, and performance consistency.
