Rockin'On Japan: Former Employee Took Personal Information Out on a USB Memory Device When Leaving the Company

Rockin'On Japan said a former employee copied about 1,000 business contacts' personal data to a private USB drive on the last day of work.

The person also downloaded a large amount of files from the cloud, including data not needed for the job.

The company confirmed the issue with external experts and lawyers, then reported it to Japan's Personal Information Protection Commission.

The case highlights the risks of data removal at resignation and the need for tighter access and export controls.
