SoftBank to invest up to 14 trillion won to build a 5GW AI data center in France

SoftBank plans to invest up to €75 billion in AI data centers across France, one of Europe’s biggest infrastructure bets.

The first phase is a €45 billion buildout of 3.1GW in Dunkirk, Bouchain, and Busquet in the Hauts-de-France region by 2031.

The company also expects additional sites across France and has a partnership with Schneider Electric to support industrial infrastructure in Dunkirk.

The project could boost France’s data center capacity, energy demand, jobs, and regional industrial development.
