China sets 2030 target for next-generation internet infrastructure

China’s industry ministry and three other agencies released guidelines for a major internet infrastructure upgrade.

The plan sets goals for significant progress by 2030 and a more advanced system by 2035.

Priority areas include agent-to-agent networks, satellite internet, digital identity, and wider IPv6 adoption.

It also calls for using AI, blockchain, and distributed identifiers in internet resource management.
