Student Dies When Hospital Has No ICU Doctors, Calls One on Videochat Who Pronounces Him Dead Remotely, Lawsuit Claims

Parents of Conor Hylton have sued Yale New Haven Health over his death at Bridgeport Hospital Milford Campus in Connecticut.

The complaint says he was placed in a remote ICU with no in-person intensivist, worsened without timely bedside assessment, and was later pronounced dead over video.

It alleges the hospital relied on a tele-ICU model because of staffing shortages and failed to provide required monitoring, airway protection, or family notification.

A state health probe had already found the hospital failed to ensure quality care, heightening concerns about patient safety in remote critical care.
