Microsoft to invest $10 billion in Japan to strengthen domestic AI infrastructure

Microsoft announced a $10 billion investment in Japan from 2026 to 2029 to strengthen AI infrastructure.

The plan includes joint development with Sakura Internet and SoftBank and provision of Japan-based GPU resources accessible via Azure.

Microsoft will bolster public-private cybersecurity cooperation, launch $1 million in AI for Science grants, and aim to train 1 million engineers in Japan by 2030.
