South Korea backs autonomous military robots with digital twin battlefield simulator

South Korea awarded NC AI and Hyundai Rotem projects to advance defense AI, simulation, and autonomous robot development.

The work includes a physical AI simulator, a world model for robot training, and a digital twin test environment.

Hyundai Rotem will also build modular unmanned combat platforms for autonomous and manned-unmanned operations.

The effort aims to speed military modernization, improve training data, and lower battlefield risk before deployment.
