Stop Your iPhone Suppressing Background Audio in Videos

iOS 26.4 adds a toggle to enable or disable Audio Zoom for video recording.

Audio Zoom narrows microphone focus to the zoomed subject and is enabled by default.

You can update via Settings → General → Software Update and toggle Audio Zoom at Settings → Camera → Record Sound.

Audio Zoom only works when recording format is Spatial Audio or Stereo; it is grayed out in Mono.
