Man Who Invented Roomba Moves Into Household Demon Market

Roomba co-creator Colin Angle has launched Familiar Machines & Magic to build an AI-powered companion robot called Familiar.

The furry, pet-like robot uses on-device generative AI to interact with owners, learn routines, and develop a distinct personality.

Angle says the company will avoid human-like designs, relying instead on sounds and body language.

Sales are targeted for next year at the earliest, as the project tests demand for emotionally engaging household robots.
