Friendster is back, but looks very different

Friendster has relaunched after about 24 years as a minimalist, ad-free iOS app focused only on real-life connections.

There is no feed, no ads, and no follow suggestions; users can add each other only by physically tapping phones together.

Creator Mike Carson says future features may include Friends of Friends and Fading Connection.

The original Friendster launched in 2002, later lost ground to MySpace, pivoted to social gaming, and shut down in 2015.
