Jay Clayton, a key figure in the XRP lawsuit, confirmed as U.S. Director of National Intelligence

Former SEC Chair Jay Clayton, who filed the XRP lawsuit, has been confirmed by the U.S. Senate as Director of National Intelligence.

The Senate approved Clayton by a 51-47 vote, clearing him to formally take charge of the U.S. intelligence community.

During his SEC tenure, Clayton brought the XRP-related unregistered securities offering case against Ripple Labs, Brad Garlinghouse, and Chris Larsen.

His elevation to DNI puts renewed attention on the regulator who helped launch one of crypto’s most consequential legal battles.
