Scientists Warn: Vaping Likely Causes Cancer

A UNSW-led review published in Carcinogenesis assessed whether e-cigarette use can cause cancer.

The authors found volatile organic compounds and trace metals in e-cigarette aerosols and reported biomarker, animal, and lab evidence of DNA and tissue damage.

The review concluded e-cigarettes are likely to cause lung and oral cancer but gave no numerical risk estimates and called for long-term studies.
