New Report Suggests Age Verification Service Used by PlayStation and Meta Is a Privacy Mess

Researchers say Yoti, a widely used age-verification provider for sites like PlayStation, Meta, and TikTok, collects more device and browser data than needed.

The report says some of that information may be shared with third parties such as Stripe, raising tracking and privacy concerns.

Yoti said it fixed one issue, but researchers could not verify the fix or confirm whether any data was retained.

The findings, presented at the IEEE Symposium on Security and Privacy, highlight risks in privacy-sensitive verification systems.
