Eight years ago Morocco adopted Central European Time. Now it has decided it's time for a change

Morocco will permanently leave GMT+1 and return to GMT on September 20, 2026.

The move follows years of debate over the impact of the advanced clock, especially during Ramadan.

Officials say the change addresses complaints about daylight mismatch, school schedules, and daily routines.

It will also reduce Morocco’s time alignment with Spain, France, and other European partners.
