Google AICore using more storage? That’s by design

Google says AICore’s higher storage use is usually temporary: it downloads a new on-device AI model while keeping the old one for up to three days in case the update fails.

Once the new model is verified, the older copy is removed; users may also see higher battery or CPU usage during this process.

AICore typically takes around 7GB, and can sometimes use 11–12GB on Android devices.

Turning off AICore can free space, but it also disables Gemini Nano-based features on phones like the Pixel 10 Pro.
