TVs with Gemini on YouTube: answering questions and providing "summaries"

Google has added Gemini conversational AI to the YouTube app on smart TVs.

In Japan it is available on Google TV–equipped smart TVs and the Google TV Streamer YouTube app.

Videos get a Gemini‑marked "Ask" button; clicking it opens a tool area at the screen edge.

Users can choose templates, ask by voice using the remote mic, research related info without pausing, and request summaries with timestamps that let them jump to points.

The feature was previously rolled out on mobile and web starting in the US, and as of April 1 applies only to standard videos; Shorts and live streams are excluded.
