First US commercial-scale solar-powered cobalt plant targets 70% water recycling

EVelution Energy says groundwater tests at its Yuma County, Arizona site confirmed enough water for its planned cobalt metal and cobalt sulfate plant.

The result supports final design and permitting for the solar-powered project, which is being developed as a commercial-scale critical minerals facility.

The plant will use a closed-loop water system expected to recycle about 70% of process water and avoid on-site discharge.

That reduces a major project risk and helps advance a large U.S. minerals project in a water-scarce region.
