US conducts first ground-based Typhon launch, fires Tomahawk missile to 391-mile range

The U.S. carried out the first operational Typhon launch from the Philippines during Exercise Balikatan on May 6, 2026.

A Tomahawk missile was fired from Leyte Island and struck a target about 391 miles away, showing the system’s mobile deep-strike range.

The drill included Philippine Army support for targeting and command-and-control, underscoring closer interoperability.
