SpaceX says Amazon launched satellites at wrong altitude, asks FCC to act

SpaceX told the FCC that Amazon launched satellites at higher initial altitudes than authorized, raising collision concerns.

Amazon denied violating its license and said its insertion altitudes fit the 'at or near 400 km' allowance and operational needs.

Amazon said changing Ariane launch parameters would cause multi-month delays and committed to lower initial altitudes from its fourth Ariane mission.

Both companies have used FCC filings to dispute each other's launch practices, and Amazon says it informed the FCC and SpaceX of its altitudes in advance.
