iPhones to Get These New Satellite Features

Amazon said it will acquire Globalstar and separately agreed with Apple to support current and future iPhone and Apple Watch satellite features through Amazon Leo, with closing targeted for 2027.

The deal could reshape the infrastructure behind Apple’s satellite services and accelerate broader emergency and connectivity features on iPhone.

Reported iPhone upgrades include 5G via satellite, Apple Maps support, Photos in Messages, third-party app integration, and easier satellite connection.
