LAUSD unanimously approved “Using Technology with Intention,” a resolution to sharply limit classroom device use.

The policy bans devices in kindergarten and first grade and discourages one-to-one laptops or tablets in grades 2–5.

It also expands limits on video, gaming, and social media in schools, with final rules due by June and rollout planned for 2026–27.

The move reflects growing concern over distraction, screen addiction, and student health in digital learning.
