Samsung raised prices and Apple held steady... Why the iPhone is reviving in China

China’s smartphone shipments rose in April, lifting hopes that foreign-brand phones — including iPhones — may be recovering.

CAICT data showed both overall handset shipments and foreign-brand shipments increased year over year in April.

But shipments for January through April were still down, so the rebound may be too early to call a full recovery.

Apple recently reported stronger revenue growth in Greater China, while Samsung raised prices on some models.
