OpenAI Fast-Tracking AI Phone for 2027 Launch, Says Kuo

OpenAI is reportedly speeding up work on its first AI phone-like device, with mass production now eyed for the first half of 2027.

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo says the hardware plan includes custom chips, advanced camera sensing, and multi-processor AI processing.

Kuo identified MediaTek, Qualcomm, and Luxshare as key partners, with TSMC also potentially involved in chip production.

The device would put OpenAI into direct hardware competition with Apple and others, while giving it a tightly integrated platform for AI agents.
