US Army tests low-cost drone-killing interceptor that can be redirected after launch

The U.S. Army’s 52nd Air Defense Artillery Brigade is testing DZYNE Technologies’ IonStrike interceptor in Europe.

The trial is checking how well it plugs into existing radar and command networks, and how easily it can be reloaded and retasked in flight.

IonStrike is being evaluated as a mid-range option to help defeat large swarms of drones.

If successful, it could give troops a cheaper, more flexible alternative to firing expensive missiles at mass drone attacks.
