NASA’s James Webb telescope maps the most detailed cosmic web across 13.7 billion years

NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope has produced the most detailed map yet of the cosmic web, tracing galaxy structures across nearly 13.7 billion years.

Using COSMOS-Web data, researchers mapped the universe’s filamentary galaxy network in higher resolution and farther back in time than earlier Hubble-based studies.

The public release includes the map, analysis tools, and a catalog of 164,000 galaxies, giving scientists new ways to study galaxy formation and clustering.

The work offers an unprecedented look at how large-scale structure evolved and will support future research into the early universe.
