Rivian adds a new onboard AI assistant to its latest software update

Rivian software version 2026.15 adds the Rivian Assistant for eligible Gen1 and Gen2 vehicles.

The onboard AI can be launched by voice or vehicle controls and handle settings, climate, navigation, media, messaging, calling, and troubleshooting.

The update gives Rivian owners a more deeply integrated voice assistant, helping offset the lack of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Rivian’s move follows the broader industry shift toward built-in digital assistants seen in systems from brands like BMW and Mercedes-Benz.
