Researchers at Chalmers University of Technology developed an AI-based fast-charging method for EV batteries.

The system adapts charging to each battery’s health and chemistry, using reinforcement learning and transfer learning.

It keeps charging times nearly the same while reducing degradation such as lithium plating.

The team says the approach could extend battery life by about 23% and work through existing battery management software.
