Ravenloft: The Horrors Within review: A good companion book to D&D's best Ravenloft products

Ravenloft: The Horrors Within is D&D’s first major 2026 book and the opening release in the new Season of Horror.

The book updates Van Richten’s Guide to Ravenloft for 5.5e with new domains, character options, monsters, and accessories.

The review calls it a useful companion to the earlier book, but says some rules and lore lose flavor and originality in simplification.

As an early sign of Wizards of the Coast’s new seasonal model, it suggests where D&D’s 5.5e line may be headed.
