Alibaba Wins Lawsuit to Secure Alibaba.ai and Tmall.ai Domains; Court Rules Defendant Registered Them in Bad Faith - IT Home

A European Arbitration Centre panel found that Alibaba.ai and Tmall.ai were registered and used in bad faith.

The domain holders lacked legitimate rights and were found to have pursued speculative resale.

Under the UDRP process, both domains will be transferred to Alibaba.

The decision shows that attempting to resell domains matching or closely resembling famous trademarks at inflated prices can constitute bad-faith registration.
