Introducing the OpenAI Safety Fellowship

OpenAI launched a pilot Safety Fellowship for external researchers, engineers, and practitioners.

The program supports independent AI safety and alignment research with mentorship, a stipend, and compute support.

The cohort-based fellowship runs from September 14, 2026 to February 5, 2027.

Applications close on May 3, and decisions are due by July 25.
