Hanwha and Naver Cloud consortium selected as preferred negotiator for 24.2 billion won 'defense-specific LLM' project

A Hanwha Systems–Naver Cloud consortium was selected as the preferred bidder for South Korea’s defense-focused large language model project.

The 42-month, 24.2 billion won program will build a defense AI platform and a multimodal battlefield-information LLM.

The project also includes a data fabric and knowledge base to be applied to the Korean military command-and-control system.

It marks a major step toward deploying generative AI in defense operations and could reshape AI competition in the defense industry.
