Globally, 86 percent of the new generating capacity was renewable in 2025

Renewables made up 86% of the increase in global generating capacity.

Renewable capacity grew by roughly 700 GW last year, a 16% rise.

Wind additions were 160 GW; hydro added 18 GW; geothermal and biofuels grew by just under 4 GW.

Total renewable generating capacity is a bit over 5.1 TW.

Over half of renewable capacity is in Asia (2.9 TW); Europe is second with a bit under 1 TW.
