Apple working on iPhone anti-snatching feature that locks the device automatically

Apple is working on a new iPhone anti-snatching feature that could automatically lock the device if it detects a grab from the user’s hand.

The system may use signals such as the accelerometer, Apple Watch distance, Wi‑Fi, and familiar locations to spot suspicious theft behavior.

If a theft appears to happen in an unfamiliar place, it could also tighten access protections similar to Stolen Device Protection.

The goal is to lock stolen iPhones faster and make an unlocked snatch less useful to thieves.
