Uber taps Hertz to clean, charge, and fix its Lucid Motors robotaxis

Uber said Hertz will handle day-to-day operations for its upcoming Lucid Motors and Nuro robotaxi fleet through a new affiliate, Oro Mobility.

Hertz’s role includes charging, cleaning, maintenance, and depot staffing to support the autonomous ride-hailing service.

The companies plan to launch in the San Francisco Bay Area by the end of 2026 and may expand the partnership in 2027.

The deal shows Uber leaning on third-party fleet operators to help scale robotaxi service, while giving Hertz’s mobility unit a potential new revenue stream.
