NASA’s Artemis II Cleared for Moon Flight As Orion Prepares for Critical Engine Burn

NASA approved the translunar injection burn for Artemis II, clearing the mission to head toward the Moon.

The burn will start at 7:49 p.m. EDT and last 5 minutes 49 seconds using Orion’s service module main engine.

Orion’s main engine can produce up to 6,000 pounds of thrust to push the spacecraft out of Earth orbit.

The Artemis II crew of four includes NASA astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch and CSA astronaut Jeremy Hansen.
