The days of ugly solar panels could finally be over. Say hello to artsy colorful tiles!

Fraunhofer ISE researchers unveiled ShadeCut, a patterned colored film system for solar modules.

The films can make panels resemble roof tiles, masonry, or custom logos and designs.

Independent tests showed the modules retain about 95% of the output of standard uncoated panels.

The first public demonstration is planned for Intersolar Europe 2026 in Munich.

The technology could improve acceptance of solar on homes, historic buildings, and other design-sensitive projects.
