Traveling to the Moon without carrying everything: NASA's new material could allow resources to be manufactured directly there

NASA researchers discovered a new material by mixing scandium oxide and other oxides with lunar regolith at about 1,593°C.

The material is highly resistant to corrosion and heat, making it promising for containers that handle molten lunar soil.

It could also be useful as a coating for rocket engines and other aerospace parts.

If developed further, it may help enable Moon-based resource extraction and reduce the need to launch supplies from Earth.
