TP-Link is determined to launch a Wi-Fi 8 router in October. There’s just one tiny little problem: Wi-Fi 8 won’t arrive until 2028

TP-Link announced the Archer 8 router for October with Wi‑Fi 8 support, well before the standard is expected to be finalized in 2028.

The company says Wi‑Fi 8 will improve stability, latency, and coordination across multi-AP and mesh networks.

TP-Link also plans more Wi‑Fi 8 products in 2027, betting on early demand for the new standard.

The move raises compatibility, certification, and interoperability concerns for pre-standard devices, which have struggled in past Wi‑Fi launches.
