TP-Link Announces a Wi-Fi 8 Router Even Though the Standard Doesn't Exist Yet

TP-Link unveiled Archer 8, its first Wi‑Fi 8 router, with a launch planned for October 2026, well before the standard is expected to be finalized in 2028.

The company says Wi‑Fi 8 will improve consistency, latency, range, and performance across many connected devices.

TP-Link also plans a Deco 8 mesh system for 2027 as it pushes early into the next Wi‑Fi generation.

US availability is uncertain because the FCC has flagged foreign-made routers as a national security risk, though conditional approval may be possible if more manufacturing shifts to the US.
